Located in the Old East Village, Dough EV is open six days a week, operating since Aug. 2023.

Tara Davies, the owner of Dough EV, starts making and decorating donuts from 5 a.m. to open along with her team. Donuts are made fresh every day.

From sprinkle to tiramisu, the shop offers a variety of donut flavours. It’s a daily process that requires passion and motivation. Tara says she established Dough EV because she wants to bring joy through donuts.

“Originally, I was coming from Montreal and I was helping to run someone else's donut shop there. I really enjoyed the work. And then I decided that I wanted to start one here.”

The menu offers a wide array of in-house donuts and coffee. Staff serves customers from early morning to late afternoon, making lattes, organizing the pastry case and taking orders.

“But this isn’t just a donut shop.  Dough EV hosts and supports a number of community initiatives and events, including a concert fundraiser for the London Food Bank.”

Mike Sloan, organizer of the concert fundraiser, says Dough EV is a place where people can gather.

“This is where community and action can and does happen, right? And [it’s about] having that space that is accessible in so many different ways and very warm and welcoming for people to congregate and converse.”

On top of supporting community events, Tara retails her donuts to other local businesses in London, prioritizing community connection. Looking forward, she plans to continue to use the shop as a third space.

“We're going to just keep pushing with doing more events, more community events. I think one of the best ways to improve the neighborhood is just get people outside in it.”

Dough EV’s mission is to give back to the community. But at the heart of it all is the kind of joy that can only be experienced by eating a sprinkle donut.
